John Adair
Nascido em 1934, John Adair foi o primeiro britânico a dedicar-se ao ensino da liderança na Universidade de Surrey e no Oxford Centre for Management. Licenciado por Cambridge, a sua contribuição para a gestão pode ser resumida em três pontos. Em primeiro lugar, ao demonstrar que as competências de liderança estão ao alcance de qualquer pessoa. Em segundo, ao insistir que a gestão deveria privilegiar temas como a liderança, a tomada de decisão, a comunicação e a capacidade de gerir o tempo. Em terceiro, ao criar o conceito de aprendizagem centrada na acepção (action-centred learning), segundo o qual a liderança pode ser definida em três círculos sobrepostos: tarefas, equipes e indivíduos, nos quais os líderes devem atuar.
